Guidelines for authors for BVZS Publications found here


BVZS Meetings are usually held on the second weekend of May and November each year at different venues. There was no official BVZS Spring Meeting in 2007. However a Satellite day at BSAVA was held for the first time and details are as posted below or can be found on the BSAVA page in members area. A second Satellite day was held on April 2nd 2008. 


 

BVZS Autumn meeting November 6th-7th 2010
Theme "Avian Medicine & Surgery" To be held at Dudley Zoo with Conference hotel being the Village Hotel. More details to be posted. Visit to : Dudley Zoological Gardens :  on November 5th.


To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of BVZS in 2011 there will be only one Conference that year.  The meeting will be a 3 day Conference from November 11-14th. The theme will be "Recent Advances in non-domestic Animal Medicine" Further details will be posted when available


2012 Meetings It is hoped to have one in Scotland. Council will be reviewing venues


BVZS Spring meeting 2010. Theme "Preventative Medicine"
Venue Torquay and Paignton Zoo. Dates will be April 23rd to April 25th. The Conference Hotel will be the Barcelo Imperial Hotel (Hotel Torquay, Barceló Torquay Imperial Hotel, Southern England) where all the scientific sessions on the Saturday and Sunday will take place.

There will be a visit to Paignton Zoo on Friday 23rd 2010. Delegates will get free entrance from 10.00am. There will be more news posted about "behind the scenes tours" both here on the website and in the Zoo entrance. Friday evening.....it is hoped to arrange a visit to Living Coasts Torquay's Coastal Zoo | Living Coasts  from 5pm onwards. It is envisaged to have a bar there and faclility for delegates  to purchase their own supper. Anyone wishing to visit here is asked to contact Ghislaine Sayers prior to ensure a place.

Accommodation rates are £80.00 per room including breakfast  regardless of occupancy.

First Chester Conference on Forensics – Wildlife Crime.This is a preliminary note to inform you that the above Conference will  be held at the University of Chester on Friday 25th June 2010, from 0900-1700 (9.00am to 5.00pm).The Conference will focus on the detection and investigation of wildlife crime, both in Britain and overseas.  Its aim is to introduce participants from different backgrounds to the application of modern forensic methods to the collection of information and evidence in wildlife incidents and species protection.The Keynote Speaker will be Mr Nevin Hunter, Head of Compliance, Wildlife Licensing and Registration Service, Animal Health, DEFRA, who will review the situation regarding wildife offences and measures that are being taken to combat them.  Subsequent speakers will describe established and novel scientific methods that are being used to investigate crime scenes and to analyse evidence.The afternoon will be devoted to practical work.  Registrants will have the opportunity to see – and to participate - in three sessions.  These will cover “Wildlife CSI” , the examination of bones, hair and other specimens, and molecular techniques.

This Conference, intended to be the first of a series, is intended for naturalists, field biologists, wildlife inspectors, police officers, veterinary surgeons and those who are working in animal and habitat conservation.  

The programme for the Conference, together with details of how to register will follow shortly.  Attendance is restricted to 60 people and so those interested to attend will need to register early.
