BVZS Conference 2017

Dates: Friday, 13th October 2017 - Sunday, 15th October 2017

CONFERENCE LOCATION: ZSL LONDON ZOO, REGENT’S PARK, LONDON, NW1 4RY

The British Veterinary Zoological Society will be holding its first annual 3 day conference in October 2017 at ZSL London Zoo with lecture streams on zoo animal health, wildlife health, exotic pet health, veterinary nursing and a student careers session.

Conference registration
Conference registration is OPEN!  Please register for the conference using our online booking system.

The talk and poster submission deadline was 2nd June 2017 and the provisional conference programme can be found here.

Instructions for speakers and poster presenters
Speakers and poster presenters should send their abstract(s) and biography to Stephanie Jayson by 25th August 2017. Please use the following abstract template and biography template to write your abstract and biography. These are already in the format required for the Conference Proceedings. Please also check that your abstract and biography follow the guidelines for meetings abstracts before submission. Guidelines for powerpoint presentations and poster presentations can be found here.

Social events
Evening social events include a canapé and drinks reception at ZSL London Zoo on Friday 13th October (included in registration) and a three course dinner followed by silent disco at the Danubius Hotel Regent’s Park, 18 Lodge Rd, London, NW8 7JT on Saturday 14th October (see registration form). All delegates will have access to ZSL London Zoo during zoo opening hours throughout the conference. Getting to the conference
The conference will be held at ZSL London Zoo, Regent’s Park, London NW1 4RY. Registration will be in the Huxley Lecture Theatre foyer which is located between the Nuffield Building (IoZ) and ZSL Main Offices on the following map  https://www.zsl.org/sites/default/files/media/2015-09/ZSL-London-Zoo-map.pdf      Parking will not be available for delegates at the zoo therefore public transport is advised. The nearest underground (tube) stations are Camden Town (15 minute walk) and Regent's Park (20 minute walk). The zoo is also a short bus ride from Baker Street station (274 bus from Baker Street to Ormonde Terrace). Delegates are advised to check the services to these stations before starting their journey. Accommodation
BVZS have arranged a reduced rate for BVZS Conference delegates at the Danubius Hotel Regent’s Park, 18 Lodge Rd, London NW8 7JT, which is a 17 minute walk from ZSL London Zoo. The nightly rate is £140 per night for single occupancy or £150 per night for double/twin occupancy and includes breakfast and WIFI. Please phone the hotel on 020 7722 7722 on a weekday and quote the reference “1410BRITIS” to reserve your room at this rate. Any unreserved rooms will be released back to general sale after 31st  August 2017 so please book early. Public transport to the hotel is recommended and the nearest tube stations are St John’s Wood (9 minute walk from hotel) and Baker Street (16 minute walk from hotel). The hotel has also reserved 40 parking spaces for BVZS delegates at a rate of £28 per overnight stay. Please reserve your parking space when booking your room. There are a number of other hotels and bed and breakfasts near the zoo at a range of prices.
